"Léon, Marquis de Laborde (1807-1869) was a French archaeologist and traveler. He was born in Paris, the son of Alexandre de Laborde. Educated in Germany, he traveled extensively in Asia Minor, Syria, and Egypt, and then entered the French diplomatic service. In 1847 he was made conservator of the Louvre Museum of Antiques, and in 1857 director-general of the archives of the Empire."

General wear and fading to covers and spine. Rubbing to board edges and some damage to top and bottom of outer spine as shown. Pastedowns front and back have been likely replaced. Includes all illustrations/plates/maps as per index. Binding is excellent with no loose pages. Some light foxing present at prelims and a few plates with the vast majority of the book being clean with pleasant age toning. Some light pencil notes on front endpaper - could be easily erased.
